Tamhini Ghat is a mountain passage located between Mulshi and Tamhini in
Maharashtra, India for road. Tamhini ghat stretches from Pirangut to Sanaswadi. Aprox. distance from Pune to the end of ghat is 82 KM. Its really wonderful experience to drive to Pune – Tamhini ghat in Monsoon. Tamhini Ghat just beyond the Mulshi Dam. Though the roads through this ghat are at best bad, the scenery around would make you forget the bumpiness of the ride.
The Tamhini road ghat cuts the Sahyadri range to join Mulshi to Tamhini and makes the route in konkan from Pune. This ghat stretches almost 15 km. Tamhini Ghat for which you have to travel around 20-25 Km more from Mulshi dam and you will see one of the best natural beauty which is called Tamhini ghat.
This place is no less beautiful than western ghat in Monsoon season.
After crossing Tamhini Ghat you will enter in Konkan area. The first big village is Mangaon at the end of this road. It is always preferred to drive using your own Car / Bike to enjoy every spots on the ghat. It is wonderful weekend gateway for Punekars.
How to Reach Tamhini Ghat
The Tamhini Ghat is situated after the Mulshi dam on Paud-Mulshi road. There
are two main roads to reach Tamhini Ghat
Pune-Chandani Chauk- Paud-Mulshi Dam : You can drive through the chandani chauk towards mulshi. It is around 50 km, from Chandani Chauk.
Hinjewadi-Pirangut-Paud gaon-Mulshi dam : this is the another route to reach Tamhini ghat.It is around 45 km. from Hinjewadi.
Best Time to visit Tamhini Ghat
The best season to drive to Tamhini ghat is Monsoon season. From June to September is the rainy season for Pune. This is the time when you can see wonderful waterfalls, green mountains. Please avoid driving in night in Tamhini Ghat.
